Description

The Rocky ranges of northern Canada are known for their huge bull moose, and we’re known for bagging the best of them. Our goal for every hunt is to target a bull that’s 50 inches or larger (or that will score 180 or higher in the Boone and Crockett system). You can expect shots with your archery equipment to be out to 60 yards. 100 to 300 yards with a rifle. Thanks to limited resident draw, rugged terrain, and great genetics, it’s pretty common to see bulls larger than 60 inches running around. That said, we believe that any opportunity for a bull of 50 inches or more should be taken, unless it has small paddles or some sort of disfigurement. We secure a few tags each year for both archery and rifle hunts. Typical hunts are seven days long, and involve both calling and spot-and-stalk. The record books are full of specimens from our backyard. Hunters from all over the world say they’ve never been as challenged, rewarded, or inspired as they’ve been here

Description

Your adventure starts by flying or driving into Grande Prairie, Alberta — one of the great pioneer cities of Northern Canada. We’ll be at the airport to greet you and drive you out to our nearby country home and staging centre. Once you’re geared up, we’ll drive the two hours to our base camp in the Rocky Mountain foothills. It’s a huge, majestic area, surrounded by provincial parks and hundreds of miles of untouched wilderness. The limited access to the area allows us to maintain a population of some of the largest moose, elk, mountain sheep, and black bears in Canada — as well as wolves, mule deer, mountain goats, and cougars. Our camps are very comfortable. To comply with local laws and regulations, we exclusively use “mobile camps” — basically cabins on wheels. They’re warm, comfortable bunkhouses, each equipped with private areas and a kitchen. (We’re big believers in excellent food.) Upon request, or in the course of chasing a great trophy, we may sometimes move to a spike camp — where we set up large wall tents with heating. For trophy moose, we often target bulls in the 50-60 inch range (though we’ve found bigger). Hunters have a great chance at a Pope & Young or Boone & Crockett qualifying trophy. The elk here are large too — we harvest plenty over 300, to as high as 365. We won’t lie to you: our hunts are going to challenge you. The best areas are remote and difficult to access. But the pains are worth it — steep and rugged spots consistently produces monster trophies. A group we guided in 2010 bagged the two largest moose taken through any outfitter in Alberta that year, both within a few days of each other in the same zone. Adventures are made to be savoured. We have excellent camera equipment, and extensive experience with professional hunting videography. We’ll work with your preferences to ensure you can re-live the highlights with your friends and family for years to come.
