Description

THESE BEAR HUNTS ARE SELF GUIDED!! Starting on Sundays in May and early June, we are offering 6 day/5 night hunts originating from Homer, Alaska. They recommend their guests arrive in Homer on Saturday as the vessel departs the harbor early Sunday morning for the outer coast of the Kenai Peninsula. This rarely seen area of the Peninsula borders the Kenai Fjords National Park and has spectacular scenery. Shortly after leaving Homer, stretches of shoreline can be glassed for bears. Spring bears are concentrated below the snow line and come down to the beach to eat the early vegetation and low tide debris. The 18 to 20 hours of daylight allows for plenty of fantastic fishing and morning/afternoon/evening bear hunting. Cruising the beach by skiffs in the evening and glassing the side hills for bear affords the best bear hunting, and once sighted a stalk can be planned. They also spend a lot of time glassing tidal flats from shore. Most bears are taken at or near the beach, keeping packing and climbing to a minimum. This is the most effective way to hunt these bears, which average just over 6 squared and have incredible hides. It just doesn't get any better! This trip is worth the money for the sightseeing alone! Add in World Class fishing and bear hunting and you have a trip that is an incredible value! Please remember that this is Alaska, and weather can be a factor at times, they are not responsible for delays or conditions related to the weather. This is a 5 day, 4 night hunt. You do not have to be a bear hunter to go on this trip and many of their trips consist of men or women who are fishing, rifle or bow hunting, taking wildlife photographs, etc. Groups of 4-6 hunters/non hunters is required. Option to add a plane ride for scouting.

They recommend retaining fish the last two days of the trip so that they can send you home with the freshest possible fish. Fish processing and shipping is available in Homer and vacuum packing is the preferred method for most. They return to Homer Friday afternoon and guests should plan on staying the night in Homer to allow for bear hide sealing and fish freezing, etc. Fish boxes can be taken as luggage on your return to reality. Many of their clients choose to add a day of salt water salmon fishing to their trip just to cover all of the bases as the salmon fishing is traditionally great at this time. This is a 5 day, 4 night hunt.
