Description
Hunters will be flown by Super Cub to a remote location for 10 full days of hunting. A spike tent camp with 6 to 8 man tent and cook tent will be home base for this back country hunt. Hunter and guide will climb to vantage points to glass the mountain sides and valleys and call for bull moose. In some situations, lakes and rivers may be used to travel from place to place for glassing and calling. Traditionally, this hunt has reported a 95% success rate on bulls. wolves and wolverines may be taken at no charge if the clients has purchased the appropriate permits. Fishing is also available for no charge on most hunts with appropriate licenses. These guided moose hunts are conducted in game management units 9, 17 & 19. This is the south western region of Alaska. The area consists of state, federal and native lands, that are accessible to the general public for hunting, fishing and overall recreation. The area’s size is literally that of the state of North & South Dakota combined and then some. 90% of the hunts in this region are “Over the Counter” harvest tags and are non-draw. A couple registration hunts do exist but are free of charge however, they do have certain ADFG boundaries, requirements, and stipulations. These moose hunts are either fly-in drop hunts or float hunts. They are considered spot and stalk on foot or by raft/motorized boat from a multitude of river and creek systems found within the region. This outfitter does not hunt via all-terrain vehicle or horse back. You will be hunting in a very remote region of the state and will likely not experience any other hunting pressure while in the field. These moose hunts begin and end in Port Alsworth, Alaska (PA). This is a very scenic 75-minute commercial flight, south west of Anchorage. The Outfitter has a remote full-service lodge located another 90 miles west. All camping gear, tents, cots, food, and transportation for you and your guide, along with trophy care and transportation of meat back to PA is included. These hunts are normally 10 days long and are quite often combined with other species such as grizzly bear and wolf. Fishing is a favorite past time at the main lodge during, before and after most hunts at no additional charge.
